Choosing Digital Marketing as a Career Path
One of my earliest childhood memories is how my whole family would gather at 7 PM to watch their favourite daily soap. During ad breaks, they would rush to get water or use the bathroom, but I would stay glued to the TV. I loved watching the ads: the bright colors, the catchy jingles, and how brands told their stories so quickly. I would hum the tunes long after the ads ended.
As I got older, like most teenagers, I found myself addicted to the internet. Social media, online shopping, and viral trends became a part of my daily routine. But more than just consuming content, I started noticing patterns. Why did certain products become popular overnight? How did some brands create a loyal following while others struggled to gain recognition? I realized that marketing was not just about selling, it was about psychology, human behavior, and connection.
This curiosity led me to digital marketing. Unlike traditional advertising, digital marketing offers deeper insights into how people think, what influences their choices, and how brands can create meaningful relationships with their audience. The idea of crafting compelling narratives and making an impact through storytelling excites me. I see digital marketing as an art where words, graphics, and strategy come together to create something magical.
Another reason I chose this field is the power it holds. The digital world has made it easier than ever to reach people across the globe. A well-crafted campaign can turn an unknown product into a household name. With my background in writing, I want to be a part of this process. I want to help brands find their voice and connect with people in authentic ways.
That’s when upGrad came to the clutch. My experience in the MICA Digital Marketing program so far has only reinforced my passion. Learning about SEO, content strategy, social media marketing, consumer psychology has opened up a world of possibilities. I’m excited to keep honing my skills and exploring innovative ways to make an impact in this ever-evolving field.
At its core, digital marketing is about understanding people, what they need, what they desire, and how to communicate that effectively. And for someone who has always been fascinated by human emotions and storytelling, this path feels just right.
